IN SWAMIMALAI (SIGHTSEEING) |

an early breakfast we will
proceed for temple visit
of Sooriyanar Koil, Kanchanoor,
Thirunageswaram, Alangudi
and Thingaloor. The following

temples and the benefits.

SWAMIMALAI – TANJORE |

After
breakfast you will check
out from the hotel and
drive to Tanjore. In Tanjore
you will visit the world
famous Brihadishwara Temple,
an exquisite example of
the Chola architecture
built by Raja Raja Chola
in 10th Century AD, dedicated
to Lord Shiva. It is a
world heritage monument
and has several pillared
halls, shrines and 250
lingam enshrined along
the outer walls. Tanjore
was ruled by Marathas from
1674 to 1799 and its artifacts

From
this period can be seen
at the Maratha Royal
Palace and museum, built
partly by Marathas and
partly by Nayaks. The Maratha
Royal palace and museum
is a fascinating building
with huge corridors, spacious
halls, decorated rooms,
tall observation towers,
beautiful stucco works,
wonderful fresco painted
walls and ceilings, an
underground tunnel and
intricate carvings. The
Royal palace museum has
a marvelous collection
of Chola bronze statues
from 9th to 18th century.
Later you will go to a
village where you can see
the local people making
the statues with bronze
in the traditional way.

TANJORE – KARAIKUDI |

breakfast we will drive
to Karaikudi. Karaikudi
is the homeland of the
Nattukottai Chettiar and
is often called as the
capital of Chettinad. The
Chettiars were a prosperous
banking and business community
who ventured overseas to
trade in South and South-East
Asia in the 19th and early
20th centuries. Unexplored
by usual travelers, exploring
Chettinad area is a delightful
experience with many pleasant
surprises in store. On

arrival
at Karaikudi you will check
into the hotel.
After lunch we proceed
to Melur (22 km from Karaikudi)
to visit the Tile making
factory (Quarry) and drive
to back to Karaikudi in
the evening. Overnight
stay in Karaikudi.

KARAIKUDI – RAMESWARAM |

breakfast you will check
out from the hotel and
drive to Rameshwaram -
an island situated at the
extreme tip of the Indian
peninsula. It is a very
important pilgrim centre
and is known as the Varanasi
of the south. The presiding
deity is the Linga of Sri
Ranganatha, which happens
to be one of the twelve
Jyotirlingas of India.
Rameshwaram temple has
the largest temple corridor
in India and has a set
of forty wells,

with
water from each being unique
in its taste. In order
to attain Moksha it is
believed that visit to
Rameshwaram is mandatory.
